The Canadian seamless method of assembling logs is similar in principle to the Scandinavian method. However, the Canadian method uses uniform V-shaped grooves. The cross-section of logs resembles a pie with large chunks removed. The V may introduce some structural issues. Logs are more prone to split at the apex of the V. If it does split, even slightly, it could settle into a new position, threatening the integrity of the wall above it. The spaces between logs are also more susceptible to damage from termites, mice, and other pests.
In contrast, the chink-and-log method preserves the irregularity of logs. Instead of fitting entire logs perfectly together, a chinked structure uses another material to fill the gaps between logs. Not every log rings like a bell; some are D-style, flat on one side. Portions adopt the Appalachian square style. You also have to choose a corner style; options include saddle notch, dovetail, and butt.
